Bio
My husband and I will soon celebrate our 33rd anniversary - an accomplishment that for me, is awe-inspiring in itself! Together we have raised three wonderful children who now follow their own special dreams and ambitions. Our oldest recently blessed us with our first grandchild so we have "graduated" to the next level of parenthood and absolutely love every minute of it! Over the past 32 years my career in elementary education has been interspersed with the important responsibilities of parenthood. I started as a classroom teacher and then became a reading specialist. When the children came along, I worked part time as an educational consultant with IBM. This special opportunity sparked a love for guiding both novice and veteran teachers in designing elementary curriculum and transforming the theories we profess into effective classroom practice. A stint at college level teaching during my doctoral studies helped me understand that my true passion was interacting with children, so I followed my heart and returned to the elementary classroom! With my own children now relatively independent, I returned to full time work, serving in various roles related to assistant principalship and specialized instruction. My experience as both a parent and an elementary educator has prepared me well to serve as the first K-5 Principal at our new merged American Renaissance School. I look forward to the many challenges and exciting accomplishments ahead.
