Bio
My name
is Marissa Parsons and I am the music specialist here at ARCS. I have a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Gardner-Webb University and a lifetime
of experience in various musical groups. I grew up in the Carolinas and am a
true Carolina Girl. My family lives in Richmond, VA and supports me across
the state line. I currently reside in Mooresville, NC and love it! Music is
my passion in life. I love to perform, learn, and share music with the
people in my life. Consequently, I love
sharing music with the students at ARCS.
In music we will follow
the NCDPI standard course of study for K-5 music. You may visit the website
to see more details. Unlike other subject areas there is not a specific time
frame or order for music standards, presentation of material will vary in
different ways. My goal for ARCS music is to Sing, Play Instruments,
Improvise, Compose, Read and Notate Music, Listen, Describe, and Analyze,
Critique Performances, Relate to Other Disciplines, and Relate to History
and Cultures. We want to integrate music into other areas of the education
curriculum so that every child learns to delight in the aesthetics of the
world around them. Music is a piece of the puzzle in the picture of their
world.
Welcome back parents and students! Get ready to celebrate learning in music
class. I look forward to how we will grow this year.
