RAP NEWS |

September 4, 2007 |
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 11th, 2007; the first RAP parent meeting of the year will be held at 6:30 pm in the middle school band room (downstairs). The location of the middle school is 217 South Center Street, across from the Historic Vance Hotel.
The PAYS program will be presented for parents of children participating in sports on the elementary and/or middle school level immediately after the RAP meeting. Parents of all children participating in ARS sports are encouraged to attend, although it is mandatory for middle school parents.
WHAT IS PAYS?
The Parents Association for Youth SpoRts is an educational program designed for parents promoting positive youth sports. The PAYS Parents' Code of Ethics contains guidelines that may be used to hold parents accountable for their actions and can help them become more positively involved in the youth sports experience. The program also helps parents better understand their roles and responsibilities in supporting the league goals, the coaches and the children involved in youth sports. By participating in the PAYS Program, parents will receive a parent handbook, a free issue of SportingKid magazine, a PAYS Parent card, and a discounted rate on an annual SportingKid subscription.
WHY ARE WE BEING ASKED TO ATTEND THIS PROGRAM?
By attending a Pays session, parents become educated on their roles and responsibilities in youth sports and may be held accountable for their behavior. The PAYS Parents' Code of Ethics provides guidelines for ways to make the youth sports experience more enjoyable and positive for children.
HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST TO TAKE?
Usually there is a $6.00 fee for parents to take it online, but it will be presented FREE the evening of the RAP meeting on September 11th.

ARCS CLOTHES CLOSET |
Submitted:Tuesday
September 4, 2006 |
The ARCS Clothes Closet provides used clothes for
ARCS families who need them. If you have gently used
and wearable uniforms, you may leave them in the front office with Mrs. Durham. If you need a receipt for your donation, one can be provided. The Clothes Closet can also accept new underwear and socks that can be used for emergencies at the school.
If during the school year, you or someone you know needs items from the Closet, please let a staff member know and they will be happy to pass along the necessary information to the Closet coordinator.
If you have questions, please direct them to Kelly Brown at JKPGBrown@aol.com

RAP MEMBERSHIP OPEN |
Submitted:Tuesday
September 4, 2006 |
If you did not have the opportunity to join RAP at Open House, you may join at any time. Your Renaissance Association of Parents primary purpose is to raise money to support any need our school may have which would otherwise go unfulfilled because of lack of state funding. Instead of marketing direct-sale fund raising programs, RAP asks that each family join our association for a fee of $5.00. This is money that goes directly to our school.
If you would like to join RAP, please complete the MEMBERSHIP PROFILE and submit with $5.00 (check payable to RAP) in an envelope marked RAP.
